Golden Blueberries Apologizes for Nominating Ryan Kiera Armstrong

The event, which honors the worst performances and films of the year, has come under fire since Armstrong was nominated for her performance in Firestarter.

The Razzies introduced an age limit for nominations after the backlash over 12-year-old Ryan Kira Armstrong’s worst actress nomination.

In a statement, the creator of the “awards” John Wilson, apologized and confirmed that Armstrong’s name was removed from the list of nominations. He also said that actors under the age of 18 will not be eligible to be nominated for the “awards”.

The event – which awards the worst performances and films of the year – has been heavily criticized since Armstrong was nominated for her performance in Firestarter. The film, which also stars Zac Efron, is about a young woman trying to figure out how she gained the power to set fire with her mind. Efron was not nominated for Golden Raspberry, although the film is nominated for Worst Remake/Rip-off/Sequel.

Among those who criticized the decision to nominate Armstrong was actor Devon Shaw, who reportedly tweeted: “The Razzies are run by dead people. Nominating a 12-year-old? This kid can be amazing if he doesn’t put his mind to it.” (Sawa then appears to have deleted his tweet).

And 11-year-old actor Julian Hilliard, who has appeared in the TV mini-series ‘WandaVision’ and the film ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ wrote: ‘The Razzies are already bad, but to nominate a child is just repulsive and wrong. . Why put a child at risk of being bullied or worse? To become a little better.”

In his statement, Wilson admitted the criticism of the event was “valid” and said Armstrong’s name had been removed from the ballot. He added: “We also believe we owe Ms Armstrong a public apology and want to say we regret any harm she has suffered as a result of our choices.”
