Neymar overcame acne and blemishes to achieve ‘baby skin’; top dermatologist explains

by

When he started to become a familiar face, Neymar had a skin that many Brazilians struggle to improve: oily, with acne and blemishes. However, over the years, as he gained worldwide fame and began to advertise products ranging from shaving equipment to underwear, the player’s face also underwent changes.

The most recent procedures were performed by the star last Saturday (28). This time, he underwent sessions of Liftera, which uses ultrasound waves to improve flaccidity and reduce localized fat on the face, and of Futera, which emits electromagnetic waves that renew cells in the treated region, promoting skin rejuvenation.

This is just the last in a long list of treatments that Neymar started to adopt to improve his appearance. Vain, the player likes to try new treatments and is a dedicated patient, according to Juliana Neiva, the athlete’s dermatologist.

The doctor, who has been taking care of the skin of the Paris Saint-Germain star and the Brazilian national team for seven years, explains that each phase of the partnership between the two required different treatment. If in the beginning they struggled with oiliness and the dreaded pimples, nowadays he already earns praise like the hashtag #peledebebe on her Instagram account.

According to the professional, Neymar took a liking to the skincare routine (skin care), which he maintains even with an intense routine. Constantly traveling and playing in places with varied climates, the player’s skin demands specific care for the environments he frequents.

“Now, we meet every three or four months and set up a routine according to the time of year and the types of exposure”, she says. “High performance requires a lot of exposure to various irritating factors of the skin, such as sun, rain, dust and psychological stress.”

There is also concern about the fact that some dermatological treatments require the use of medication, which —if poorly prescribed— can interfere with the athlete’s performance and even result in a possible case of doping. This is what happened, for example, with Maurren Maggi, who was banned from the sport for two years after being caught in an anti-doping test in 2003 —at the time, she claimed that a depilatory cream applied would have been responsible for introducing the prohibited substance into her body. body.

With the player, Neiva explains that he pays attention to the substances present in each prescription and, when in doubt, talks to the club’s doctor. “In fact, there are many limitations that prevent us from being able to make treatments to improve the skin. But we need to check the substances and study them.”

The only thing the dermatologist preferred not to answer was how much Neymar spent to renew his skin. Asked about how the deal was between them, the doctor says that this information is confidential.
