His statements caused a sensation James Gunn, new head of DC (along with Peter Safran) for Henry Cavill. Gunn, who presented his plans for the new DC Extended Universe (DCEU) was not diplomatic about the former “Superman” Cavill, who was written that he was fired…

“We didn’t fire Henry. We never hired him,” he clarified, “dryly brushing him aside.” At least Gunn was honest, hinting that the actor was a thing of the past with the change at DC’s head.

“For me, it’s about, who do I want to cast as Superman and who do the filmmakers we have want to cast? And for me, for this story, he’s not Henry,” Gunn said of the new Superman Legacy film he’s preparing.

As he explained: “I like Henry, I think he’s a great guy. I think he was put in a difficult position by a lot of people, including the former regime of this company. But this Superman is not Henry, for a number of reasons,” he explained. Gunn had previously stated that he wanted someone younger than the 39-year-old actor for DC’s new iconic Superman.

Who will play Superman?has not been announced, while a separate “black Superman” movie is in the works.
