Father of Lt. Gen. Turutsika to SKAI: “When we heard that a plane had crashed, I instinctively knew it was my son”

“They still haven’t explained to us how the accident happened, they are waiting for the results. That’s the last thing I want to know”

Everything that the father of the deceased ensign Marios – Michael Turoutsikas, Kostas, said this morning to SKAI, on the “Today” show, is shocking.

Mr. Turoutsikas emphasized, among other things, that he is sure that his son, who was particularly low-key, would not want to be called a “hero” and asked that the world stop commemorating him in this way.

At the same time, he spoke about his son’s love for aviation, while he stated that in the visit he received yesterday from the chiefs of the armed forces, they did not explain the circumstances of the accident to him as they await the outcome. But, as he pointed out, it’s the last thing he wants to know.

Mr. Kostas Turoutsikas also spoke about the moment he learned about the downing of the fighter, stressing that “when we heard that a plane had fallen, I instinctively knew it was my son”, while he revealed that his son’s role model was Konstantinos Iliakis, who was killed in the Aegean on May 23, 2006, after a wrong maneuver by a Turkish pilot.
