The actor expressed the opinion that the original cast would probably not want to return to the NBC series
Seth Rogen “closes the door” on a “Freaks and Geeks” revival. Speaking to People magazine, the actor referred to the recent trend of reboots and expressed the opinion that the original cast would probably not want to return to the NBC series, which lasted one season of 18 episodes.
“I don’t think anyone would,” Rogen told the magazine, referring to the possibility of a series revival. “It’s so rare that you do something in your career that’s actually considered good.”
“Freaks and Geeks” centers on siblings Lindsey (Linda Cardellini) and Sam (John Francis Daley), who try to make friends at their new high school in Detroit in 1980, and aired from September 1999 to early 2000.
“I know enough to not laugh at it anymore. I just leave what’s good and don’t go back. I just let it be,” said the actor.
Executive producer, writer and director Joe Apatow revealed earlier this year that there was an offer from MTV to continue the series on a “much lower budget” in 2000, but the “Freaks and Geeks” team “decided we didn’t want to do a weaker version of the series”.
