‘Let’s keep working’, says Anitta about losing the Grammy 2023

by

Anitta did not win the 2023 Grammy Awards as a Breakthrough Artist, this Sunday night (5), but that did not make her upset with the award. The first Brazilian to receive such an indication in almost 50 years, the singer used social networks to thank the messages, emphasize the importance of her choice in the category and put an end to a possible disappointment with the result.

“Some people sent me messages after consolation, thinking I was sad. I’m very happy because the result is something we can’t predict and everything is fine”, began Anitta. The owner of the hit “Envolver” continued. “The most incredible thing was to see myself there, I couldn’t believe it, I was in that place thinking ‘I’m here with these people’. It meant a lot to me. Breaking that hiatus, that fast, after almost 50 years that Brazil didn’t get there and I be in that place”.

She even recalled when she lost an award early in her career and that this defeat became a motivation. “What consoles me is that when I ran for Revelation Artist in Brazil, I lost. Many people also lost and made an incredible career afterwards. That’s it. We’re going to keep working, very happy”, concluded the singer.

Anitta competed with nine artists in the category and the Brazilian was one of the favorites. Italian rock band Maneskin and American rapper Latto were also at the top of the internet’s favorite list. Who won was the jazz singer Samara Joy, just 23 years old. The budding jazz artist was stunned by the win. “I’ve been watching you guys on TV for so long,” she said toward guests as the camera panned to the likes of Adele, Lizzo and Beyoncé in the crowd at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.
