“I have never apologized for any of my creative choices, or the way I look or dress, and I will not do so now,” the famous singer said in her post
The Queen of Pop reacted after the negative comments which she accepted for her person at the ceremony of Grammy Awards.
Many users on social media have accused her of being “disfigured” by plastic surgery, but Madonna doesn’t shy away from such comments.
The 64-year-old singer, with a long post on social media, gave her own answer to what was written and reproduced in the last 24 hours in the media and on social media.
She referred – initially – to the award she presented, specifically to Kim Petras (the first transgender to win a Grammy) and the controversial Sam Smith.
“Kim Petras and Sam Smith at the Grammys. I wanted to present the last award, which was album of the year, but I thought it was more important to present the first trans woman to appear at the Grammys, a moment that made history! And on top of that she won a Grammy,” Madonna wrote in her post.
He continues: “Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech, many people chose to talk only about my close-up photos, taken with a long-lens camera by a press photographer that would distort anyone’s face. Once again I was attacked for my age. A world that refuses to celebrate women after 45 and feels the need to punish them if some wish to be hardworking and adventurous.
I’ve never apologized for any of my creative choices, nor the way I look or dress, and I’m not going to now. I’ve been ‘hit’ by the media since the beginning of my career, but I understand that all this is a test and I’m happy to pave the way so that all the women behind me can go through it more easily in the years to come”, underlines Madonna.
And she “closed” her post with lyrics from a Beyonce song: “You won’t break my soul.” I will resist the patriarchy and mostly enjoy my life. Bow down bitches.”
