The snow exceeds one meter in Chania, Zagora, Mouresi as well as in other villages of South Pelion
Thick snow it continues to fall even today in Volos, where everything is dressed in white and the height of the snow in the center has reached 10 cm, while in the northern suburbs and above the Peripheriakos it exceeds 25 points. During the night dozens of water tankers again poured seawater onto the roads to keep them open, despite the heavy snowfall.
In Pelion the continued snowfall for day four the snow has reached more than one meter in Chania, Zagora, Mouresi and in all the villages of South Pelion. More than 75 machines non-stop de-icing the road network of Pelion and salt shakers pour salt on the roads to prevent the road surface from freezing. Roads are being kept open, but cars need snow chains to drive from Ano Volos and up towards Portaria, Makrynitsa and Chania, where the temperature is minus 9 degrees.
In coastal Pelion, on the side of Pagasitikos and from Agria to Argalasti, the snow has exceeded 20 points, while the second wave of snowfall is more intense than yesterday in the entire area of ​​South Pelion.
Inside the city of Volos, where the snow has once again reached the sea, the temperature is at zero, the central arteries are open and the deputy governor of Magnesia Dorothea Kolyndrini told the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency that “the machine operators have reached a limit point, since they are working non-stop in everyone’s effort to keep the roads open. Together with the Municipality of Volos, we are working together and pouring seawater on the arteries, especially on Athens and Larissa avenues, so that cars can move better at the entrances and exits of the city, but also so that city buses can move and serve the people.”
According to the “City Transport of Volos”, routes to the northern suburbs of Ano Volos, Anakasia, Stagiates, Katihori, Agios Onoufrios, Alli Meria, as well as line 49 to Agia Paraskevi, are not operated.
No route of the KTEL Magnisias was carried out to Pelion even today, but the routes to Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Larissa and Almyros are carried out.
Schools of all grades are also closed today in the municipalities of Volos, South Pelion, Zagora-Moures and Skiathos.
The Courthouse of Volos is also closed today and the judicial services are not working, due to the snow.
