Singer Maurílio Ribeiro, from the backwoods duo with Luiza, died this Wednesday (29) after spending two weeks in hospital for pulmonary thromboembolism. The artist was in serious condition and suffered three cardiac arrests in a few hours, on the 15th, when recording a new DVD of the duo, in Goiânia.
The death reverberated among fans, Maurílio’s professional colleagues, among other celebrities. Forrozeiro Wesley Safadão used his Twitter to send “feelings to the singer’s family, friends and fans.” Artist Solange Almeida also mentioned Maurílio’s family, fans and friends in a post on the social network.
Former BBC and singer Gabi Martins posted a photo in her Instagram story looking shocked: “No, my God, why?” she wrote. Former Farm Mileide Mihaile lamented: “My countryman went into his father’s arms. May God comfort his family and receive him with great affection in heaven.”
Tierry, a singer, was one of the first to express his grief over Maurilio’s death. “Today nothing matters anymore! I lost another friend and hiking partner”, he published on a social network. The countryman Cesar Menotti was brief in his statement, accompanied by a photo of his colleague playing the guitar: “How sad. Go with God, Maurílio. #I mourn”
Musician and producer Dennis DJ, who has already partnered with the duo, said that “you can’t believe that [Maurílio] he’s gone.” “What a year this is!” he commented, referring to other tragedies that occurred in the sertanejo in 2021, such as the death of singer Marília Mendonça on November 5 in a plane crash.
Another ex-BBB, Victor Hugo, who became a musician after the reality show, published a photo of himself with Maurílio, saying “we will always be together, my twin”. Actor Rodrigo Lombardi said on Twitter: “What sad news. It’s just bad stuff happening. Rest in peace, Maurílio!”
Maraisa, from the duo with Maiara, published a small text on her account, along with a photo of Maurílio on stage. “Today, we’ve lost another great friend! Maurilio, an enlightened boy, of peace, and of many dreams! An unparalleled talent! May you follow the path of light and look at us from above, because I’m sure you’re at your best place in the world… Where you deserve to be! I love you my friend!”
Xand Avião left a “hug to family, friends and fans” on Twitter from his career colleague. “May God comfort the hearts of all”, he wished.
Outside the world of music, sports presenter Benjamin Back recalled the day he received Luiza and Maurílio from the Arena SBT program. “They participated in the #arenasbt in October, such a nice guy, only 28 years old. May he rest in peace.”
