Celine Dion has kept a low profile since being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndromewhich forced her to take a break from performing.

However, over the weekend, the ‘My Heart Will Go On’ singer took to Instagram via her team to share memories of happier times in her music career ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Celine Dion asks us to celebrate love and her fans they “deify” her in their comments. The text reads: “To celebrate love in all shapes and forms, ‘The Love Songs’ playlist has been revamped once again. The most beautiful love songs. Enjoy them…’.

Last year, Celine Dion was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS). The condition leaves sufferers like “human statues” as their bodies gradually lock down, leaving people unable to walk or speak.

The 54-year-old singer addressed her fans with an emotional video on Instagram – in English and French – as she revealed that the particular health problem forced her to cancel her European tour.

“As you know I’ve always been an open book and wasn’t ready to say anything before, but now I’m ready. I have been struggling with my health for a long time and it has been very difficult for me to face my challenges and talk about everything I am going through. I was recently diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder.

Although we are still learning about this rare disease, we now know that this is what is causing all the seizures I have had,” she had revealed. Detailing the impact the condition has had on her, Celine Dion continued: ‘Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes making it difficult to walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing like I used to. .

All I know is that singing is what I’ve done all my life and what I love to do the most. I miss you so much. I miss seeing you all on stage and me singing for you. In order to get back to you I have no choice but to focus on my health right now and I have hope that I am on the road to recovery.

I want to thank you so much for your wishes, love and support on social media. That means a lot to me. Take care of yourself. Be well. I love you so much and I really hope to see you again very soon.”

It is the latest tragedy to strike Celine Dion, following the death of her husband Rene Angelil aged 73 in 2016. She has three sons with her late husband, Rene-Charles and twins Nelson and Eddy. She met Rene in Canada when she was just 12 and he was already 38. He became her manager. His devotion and support of Celine Dion reportedly led to him mortgaging his house so he could finance her debut album ‘La Voix du bon Dieu’ in 1981.

Rene and Celine officially started dating in 1987, when she was just 19 and he was 45, and in 1991 they got engaged. However, the great singer only made their romance public in 1993 and in December 1994 they got married in Montreal’s Notre-Dame Basilica.

Her husband died aged 73 of a heart attack while also suffering from terminal cancer in January 2016. Two days later, Celine Dion lost her brother Daniel, also to cancer.

That August, Celine released a tribute album to him in French titled “Encore un soir”, with a single of the same name that became a hit in French-speaking markets.
