The country star Brad Paisley a new song featuring the Ukrainian President is released Volodymyr Zelensky on the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“The world seemed to be in a new state that it hadn’t been in decades,” the three-time Grammy winner recalled of his reaction when the war broke out.

On Friday, the one-year anniversary of the start of the war, Paisley is releasing a new song called “Same Here,” in which the Ukrainian president speaks proudly of his country and people.

This song is Paisley’s first from his new record, “Son of the Mountains” (Son of the Mountains) to be released later this year by Universal Music Group Nashville.

Although it does not specifically mention Ukraine, the song ends with Paisley and Zelensky in conversation, recorded during a video call. Zelensky speaks of Ukrainians’ desire for freedom, adding “There is no distance between our two countries in such values.”

“There are simply no differences,” Paisley commented to the Associated Press. “You can put us in different places with different flags and different languages, but we have so many similarities.”
