With these characteristics, this year Kefalonia won first place in the preferences of the British as the best Greek island. The largest consumer research organization ‘Which?’ asked over 1000 Brits who have visited the country in the last two years to rate the 10 most popular Greek islands.

Specifically, the survey had 8 categories to evaluate: beaches, food and drink, accommodation quality, tourist attractions, natural beauty, shopping, peace and quiet and finally value for money. While the islands that participated in order of preference were: Kefalonia, Lefkada, Skiathos, Crete, Corfu, Kos, Zakynthos, Rhodes, Santorini and Mykonos.

The island made famous by Captain Corelli’s Mandolin even surpassed Lefkada, which last year came top, with an overall score of 85%, with the survey pointing out that it was the only island to score 5/5 in the ‘tranquility’ category. . “Frenzy” Mykonos was in last place with 55%, mainly due to crowds and unapproachable prices.
