Daft Punkthe popular electronic music group who announced their breakup in 2021 after 28 years in the industry, have released the first song from their upcoming compilation album “Random Access Memories”. It’s about “The Writing of Fragments of Time”.

Its lyrics were written and recorded with the group’s long-time collaborator Todd Edwards (with whom they first collaborated on the song “Face To Face”, a single from the album “Discovery” released in 2001).

At the legendary Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles, on February 29, 2012, the entire process of creating the magical song was filmed by Thomas Bangalter and Todd Edwards.

Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter left an indelible mark on the electronic and pop scene. They formed Daft Punk in 1993 in Paris and played their part in making French house music more widely known. They gained a lot of popularity in the late 1990s. The song “One more Time” is one of the first to take off their fame. In the 2000s, one commercial success followed another.

Their distinctive disguises have become their trademark and a point of recognition in every public appearance since 2001: Shiny helmets and robot-like gloves. Daft Punk announced their disbandment with an 8-minute video, which they titled ‘Epilogue’ and which is an excerpt from their film ‘Electroma’ (2006).
