Almost a year after the announcement of Shakira’s separation, Gerard Piqué said he lives in peace despite all the controversy involving betrayals and legal disputes against the singer. For the first time, the former player revealed that he is not worried about his public image and assumed he was happy. He confirmed his relationship with Clara Chía and that he is “doing what he wanted”. Piqué did not name the Colombian artist he was married to for 11 years.
“On the day I die, I’ll look back and hope I’ve done everything I wanted to do,” warned Piqué during an interview with the Spanish newspaper ‘El Pais’. “I want to be true to myself. I’m not going to spend money to clean up my image. The people I care about and love are the ones who know me. I don’t care about the rest. I channel my energy into being with my people and giving to them what I have. I’m very happy”, he pointed out to the publication.
He didn’t want to talk about Shakira, who even made music pinning Piqué and Clara, and repeated the answer he had already given to a Spanish radio station on Tuesday (21) when he said he wasn’t going to talk about his ex-wife because “he wasn’t with desire”. Asked if he had been “affected by the media separation”, Piqué replied: “I won’t comment, I’m not into that. Everyone has their responsibility to try to do what’s best for their children”, he said.
Piqué stressed that his priority are his two children Sasha, 10 years old, and Milan, 8. “That’s the job of every parent with kids. That’s what I’m focused on and that’s my job as a parent,” he stated.
