The oil painting is by Alastair Barford, the painter who painted the late Queen Elizabeth in 2015.

The artist had graduated with a scholarship from the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust.

“It’s a scary price! It is a great responsibility to create a portrait of someone who means so much to so many people,” the artist said and added. “I wanted to capture his warmth and sensitivity, as well as the empathy he always displayed in his interactions with the people he met.”
