Market Intelligence: Susana Veira plays with patience in campaign and promises to learn English in the New Year

by

Actress Susana Vieira and influencer Viih Tube got into the mood of New Year’s promises and committed to learning English and Spanish in a campaign on the Duolingo language class app. They are part of the #EsseAnoVaiComDuolingo action to encourage more Brazilians to study a language.

In addition to English, the actress also invests in Italian, says the platform. “I didn’t know the app. I loved it. I downloaded it and I’m going to practice it because I have the patience for it. It’s very easy to use”, says Susana.

The idea of inviting her to the campaign came about because of the meme that sees her as impatient, after an episode of Globo’s Video Show, which had repercussions and went viral in 2009.

“I don’t have the patience for a person who is just starting out”, said Susana as she took the microphone from reporter Geovana Tominaga, during a live interview with Renato Aragão. The two have already given interviews and the situation, according to them, is not a problem in their relationship.

The ex-BBB Viih Tube, on the other hand, promised to behave and leave the making out, unlike what she did at the end of last year, and dedicate herself to learning Spanish with Duolingo in 2022.

In addition to the two characters, messages of incentives for other common New Year’s goals will be taken by trucks to places in São Paulo, such as gyms, banks, restaurants and bars, which refer to some resolutions (drink less, maintain the diet, save money…)

To reinforce the motto “Every promise is easy to make, but to keep…only Duolingo”, beer biscuits, bottle holders, ashtrays and pizza boxes will be available in some establishments in the capital of São Paulo.

“We know that keeping New Year’s resolutions is often difficult, and learning a new language is always among the promises for the following year. Therefore, we want to encourage Brazilians to fulfill at least one of them in 2022”, says Analigia Martins, Duolingo’s marketing director in Brazil.
