Meghan Markle is set to receive the Women of Vision 2023 Award from renowned feminist Gloria Steinem next month.

The Duchess of Sussex’s “global contribution to the empowerment and advocacy of women and girls” earned her the fancy new gong at the ceremony on May 16 in New York.

The award she will receive is entitled: “Feminist, defender of human rights and gender equality and global role model”.

Teresa C. Younger, president and CEO of the Ms Foundation, added that the duchess and the other honorees “are incredible leaders and we are grateful to be able to shine a light on their many achievements and tireless work on behalf of gender equality all over the world”.

Markle and Steinem, who both live in Montecito, California, built their unlikely friendship during the 2020 quarantine.

Markle is set to receive the award just 10 days after King Charles’ coronation, which takes place on May 6.

The Sussexes, however, have yet to say whether they will make the 5,459-mile journey from their home in Montecito, California, to London for the coronation.
