A cleaning worker of the municipality of Neapolis-Sykeon found and handed over a wallet containing 1,500 euros.

As announced by the municipality of Neapolis-Sykeon, this is 44-year-old Pantelis Houridis, who, while receiving his equipment and before starting to offer his services, found a wallet and without thinking twice reported it to his superiors.

From the identification it contained, it was established that the wallet belonged to a citizen, so Mr. Houridis, with the help of the supervisor, immediately handed it over to its owner.

“We are proud of the morale of the workers in our municipality” said the mayor Simos Danielidis who, as soon as he was informed of the fact, congratulated Mr. Houridis by phone.

In fact, he made special reference to the fact that the specific employee is employed with an 8-month contract which was extended by 4 months in accordance with the relevant decision of the Ministry of Labour.

“His attitude acquires an even greater dimension as this is a man who in a few months will be unemployed”, he stressed.

Answering a question about whether he had any second thoughts while holding the full wallet in his hands, Pantelis Houridis, who is a single parent, father of a boy, was categorical: “Of course not, I didn’t think for a moment to keep something that didn’t belong to me, let alone that the money might have belonged to someone who had to meet an urgent need. My first concern was to deliver them quickly, and with the help of my supervisor we found the owner and delivered them».
