Alexandra Avenue it is not just an avenue that connects 2 major streets of the capital. It is a living ecosystem, a meeting point and a point of intersection of opposites. These contrasts, culinary and not only, are invited to discover this one Sunday 09/04 at 17:45 The Dimitris Skarmoutsos on the show “Neighborhoods on the Plate”.

The tour starts from an emblematic traditional coffee shop of the area, “Tiniakos”. It was in 2016 when, after about 80 years of history, the shop in question closed its doors. Old patrons of Tiniakos, who spent their student years at its tables, decided to reopen it while maintaining its good elements. Comfort dishes, affordable prices and a happy atmosphere. Here Giannis will share with Dimitris some of the “Tianian” stories.

On the other side of Alexandra, Dimitris finds “Tsiftis”! A gastropub opened by 3 friends relatively recently. Their philosophy is, Greek dishes with a tasty… twist. Dishes with good raw material and flavors that we have all grown up with.

Next stop “48 Urban Garden”, 48 is a shop owned by gallery owner Ileana Tounda with her son Thanasis Flokas as a partner. Inside a special industrial building, with a large urban garden and a food truck parked inside the ground floor space of the gallery, the place wins you over both with its atmosphere and its food.

Finally, a walk on Alexandra Street would not be complete without passing by the well-known “meatballs” of Alexandra. It opened in 1962 and has remained the same and unchanged since then, without changing a single dish from the menu. Meatballs, cod, liver and dolmades.

Returning to the studio, Dimitris Skarmoutsos prepares two delicious recipes: mushroom pie with avocado pesto and butter mushroom linguine.
