Simone Mendes, 38, revealed an unusual curiosity for someone who is a singer: she doesn’t usually listen to music or go to concerts. “I’m a very strange artist. I’m not an artist who puts music in the car, at home, in the dressing room, in anything. I don’t listen to music and I don’t listen to myself, nothing”, she said during her participation in Altas Horas (Globo) this Saturday (8).
Mendes said that, as a child, he listened to sertanejo artists such as Milionário and José Rico, Zezé de Camargo and Luciano and Chitãozinho and Xororó. Not because of his own will, he explained, but because of the influence of his parents, who used to listen to a lot of music.
Surprised, presenter Serginho Groisman asked if she usually attends shows. “It’s really hard to go to other people’s concerts [artistas] I’m also kind of crazy”, jokes Mendes. “I don’t know if it’s because of such a crazy life, having played so many shows in my life… Three, four shows in the night. I think there’s come a time in my life where I prefer to stay calm.”
The singer added saying that she has a desire to see shows by people she admires and loves, but ends up being overcome by fatigue. “I’m ‘old’, Serginho, so I often prefer to stay at home”, she revealed. “Not that I don’t love music, every now and then I put something on, I put it on. But in my normal life, it’s not normal to listen to music.”
