It is recalled that in December 2021 there were increased restrictions due to Covid-19
An 82% increase was recorded last December, compared to the corresponding month of 2021, in the number of visitors to the country’s museums, as well as an increase in free admission visitors by 77.8% and receipts by 80.3%.
Overall 2022 sees a 126.5% increase in museum visitors, a 131.5% increase in free admission visitors and a 124.9% increase in receipts, given their gradual shutdown from 1 November 2020 to 13 May 2021 , in implementation of the measures taken to deal with the pandemic.
Also according to ELSTAT, in the archaeological sites, in December 2022 compared to the corresponding month of 2021, an increase of visitors by 73.2%, of visitors with free entry by 50.8% and of receipts by 108.4% was recorded.
In the twelve months of January-December 2022, there is an increase of 106.2% in visitors, 95.6% in free entry visitors and 121.4% in receipts, given the suspension of the archaeological sites from 7 November 2020 to 21 March 2021.
