Two weeks ago, Jojo Todynho decided to add the title of businesswoman to her biography. She entered the cosmetics business with the launch of a venture that does justice to her figure: the Grande Gostosa. For the time being, the brand only has one product — a thermal protector — available on the market, but it is already developing a complete line for hair.
All under the watchful eye of Jordana Gleise de Jesus Menezes (the singer’s birth name), who claims to be an iron-handed manager. “I follow everything,” she says to F5. “From the creation of the brand, product, publicity campaign, and I test everything first on myself. I also follow all the logistics. Anyway. I want to know everything.”
The singer says that she has always paid attention to matters related to beauty and that the desire to have a brand to call her own was an old idea, which has been maturing in recent times. A conversation with businesswoman Renata Branco was decisive. “I thought: It’s time to fly higher, and then we started talking to some people, planning and everything fell into place.”
Even involved with the new endeavor, Jojo promises that she will not leave music aside. “I will continue. Singer, presenter, businesswoman, future lawyer and very well resolved (laughs)”, she comments. “You can be whatever you want! All you need is talent, competence and focus,” she warns.
For now, she continues to work on her most recent album, released last year. “It’s my samba album. It’s called ‘Jojo Como Você Nunca Viu’, another idea that got off the ground”, she warns. “I’ve always wanted a job with a very basic samba repertoire and the songs chosen are the ones I’ve listened to since I was a little girl.”
Excited about the first semester of law school in Rio de Janeiro (“it was one of the most accurate choices of my life”), she laughs when asked about how she sees that some people consider her a modern philosopher because of her catchphrases . “They’re right (laughs)”, she replies, without false modesty. “Philosophy is not lacking in my life. I think that everything I’ve gone through until today ends up serving as an inspiration for me and also for those who accompany me.”
By the way, she says that mocking people are what she takes most seriously, but the singer denies being a person with many dislikes, especially among the famous. “I don’t consider myself a difficult person nor do I fight with anyone. I just have my way of being — and everyone has their own way, their quirks and their personality. What we need to learn is to respect and live with people the way they are. no one is like anyone else, that’s what makes life interesting”, he says.
