The actor Reynaldo Gianecchini spoke, this Friday night (14), about the criticism he received after statements in “Conversa com o Bial”. In recent days, an excerpt from his interview with the journalist has sparked debates on social networks and many users have called the artist a “hypocrite” for saying that “you couldn’t see the word ‘I’m gay’ written on your forehead”.
“I think I was misunderstood. First of all, I would never say that I’m not part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I’ve always said that at least I’m a sympathizer, I’m one of those letters, within my fluid sexuality, I’ve said it so many times so I thought that this was very explicit. I don’t look at it from afar, I am part of it”, began Gianecchini, in a video published on his Instagram profile.
According to him, the intention was to say that it took “a while” to enter the gay community. “There was a personal account of mine, of delay, and it was out of fear, fear of being written on my forehead, fear of being attacked, and I think that in Brazil a lot of people can identify with me”, he justified, remembering that he is making a theater play with the LGBTQIA+ theme.
“I super belong, but my story goes way back, bit by bit, I never wanted to belittle anyone. I never wanted anyone to be offended, and my personal story I don’t want to talk about either because that’s not even the agenda anymore to talk about sexuality, makes me lazy,” he concluded.
In an interview aired last Tuesday (11) by “Conversa com Bial”, the actor said he needed to open his mind to learn more about the community. He claimed to be a sympathizer, but that he had never joined – in the sense of frequenting gay bars. “And not for nothing, maybe I didn’t see myself there, written on my forehead, ‘I’m gay’, I always thought I was broad and then I thought it was strange to be in a place where everyone was appearing on their forehead”, he said.
