THE Diddy is forced to pay $5,000 to Sting every day that passes, for his entire life.

As the rapper himself revealed, he’s still paying the price for including part of the Police hit “Every Breath You Take” in the 1997 hit “I’ll be missing you“, without securing the rights.

The “I’ll Be Missing You,” which is dedicated to murdered rapper Notorious BIG, was released in 1997 and stayed at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for 11 weeks.

But as Sting confirmed in a 2018 interview, Diddy did not ask his permission to use the “Every Breath You Take” in the song, resulting in the rapper paying him $2,000 a day, “for the rest of his life.”

Days ago, however, Diddy corrected him, tweeting that the real amount is $5,000. “No. 5 thousand per day. Love to my brother @OfficialSting!“, He wrote.

In fact, as the Police frontman has previously said, the money he has made from Diddy they paid for the education of some of his six children.

“These guys just take your songs, put them on a record and deal with the legal issues afterwards,” he had said.

Elton John said to me: ‘You’ve got to listen to (I’ll Be Missing You’), you’re going to be a millionaire.’ I told him: ‘I’m already a millionaire.’ And he said: ‘You will become a millionaire twice!’ I educated 1-2 of my kids with the proceeds and Diddy and I are still good friends,” describes Sting.

However, even if Diddy pays Sting $5,000 a day – or $1,825,000 a year – it probably doesn’t “hurt” him too much.

Forbes estimated that the rapper made $90 million in 2022 alone, while in 2019 he had estimated his fortune at $740 million.

In fact, Diddy is not the only rapper who pays back Sting because he “stole” his songs.

Juice WRLD used ‘Shape of My Heart’ on his 2018 song ‘Lucid Dreams’, which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has sold over 10 million copies so far in the US alone.

Sting is believed to own 85% of the rights to this song.

And he had previously said that with this income he will pay for his grandchildren’s education.
