Giovanni Bianco, creative director, says he has already turned down work with Lady Gaga: ‘I thought she was ugly’

by

Giovanni Bianco, a Brazilian creative director who has worked with big names in the fashion industry, said in a podcast that he refused to work with a young Lady Gaga at the beginning of her career. That’s because, he says, he found the singer ugly.

“Lady Gaga asked me to do her first album cover [The Fame] and I didn’t, I didn’t want to. I thought she was ugly, I didn’t understand her music, I made this big mistake. She wasn’t Lady Gaga, she was a normal girl and I looked at her and I wasn’t inspired,” said Bianco on the Sala de Espera podcast.

To escape the opportunity, the director told the singer that he had no time for the recording. “I didn’t understand music either, I told her no and that I didn’t have time, she had little money too”.

Despite the initial refusal, Bianco said that he was reunited with Gaga at another time in his career and they worked together – according to him, the singer takes what happened in a good way.

“I went to work with her and she never forgot. We went to do the Versace campaign and the first thing she said when we met was that I didn’t want to work with her. .

Bianco has already photographed Anitta, Madonna and Ivete Sangalo. He was also editorial director of Vogue Italia.
