With the movie “The Goldman Case” by Cedric Kahn will open the “Directors’ Fortnight” in Cannes on May 16, which will run until the 27th of the month. In this section of the festival, 20 feature films and 10 short films will be screened. The “The Goldman Case” focuses on the 1976 trial of left-wing revolutionary Pierre Goldman, who was convicted of multiple armed robberies and later murdered.

“In Our Day” by Korean director Hong Sang-soo will close the festival. Highlights also include Oscar-winner Michel Gondry’s French comedy ‘The Book of Solutions’, while ‘Good Time’ cinematographer Sean Pryce Williams makes his feature directorial debut with the drama ‘ The Sweet East’.

The 2023 Directors’ Fortnight will feature a special screening of the late Portuguese director Manuel de Oliveira’s film Abraham’s Valley, marking the 30th anniversary of its first screening.

The Directors’ Fortnight program began in 1969 as a parallel event to Cannes. The Fortnight is overseen by the Association of French Directors and the Society of Cinematographers.
