The series is presented by the American actor, producer and director, Rainn Wilson
The parts of the Earth with the most and least happy inhabitants are visited by the American actor, producer and director Rainn Wilson in a new travel series scheduled to premiere May 18 on the Peacock.
Based on the best-selling book, according to the New York Times, “The Geography of Bliss: One Grump’s Search for the Happiest Places in the World”by Eric Weiner, Wilson will explore Iceland, Qatar, Japan and Ghana, among other places, and in a humorous and experiential way will unravel the science of happiness, according to a press release from the streaming service.
The line “The Geography of Bliss” (The Geography of Happiness) consists of five hour-long episodes.
“You would think because of my success that I am very happy, but like many others, I struggle to find true joy”Wilson says in a trailer released Wednesday.
Revealing that he suffers from an anxiety disorder, he hopes his adventures will help him deal with it and adds: “Happiness is out there, hiding in places you don’t expect. What I want to know is what are the parts? To what extent is our happiness a matter of perspective? To understand happiness, I will need to embrace what comes my way.”
In his book, which is a combination of travel memoir and quirky self-help guide, the author takes the reader around the world to explore not what happiness is, but where it is.
“Are people in Switzerland happier because it is the most democratic country in the world? Why is Asheville, North Carolina so happy?”are some of the questions he tries to answer.
