He was someone we were trying to get on the show. And then there was this surprise with Adele!” he reported.
“The fact that he came and did that for me. The fact that it was her idea to say, “well, why don’t I drive him to work?” It’s really special,” he added.
“Because what you’re really watching is two friends who moved to Los Angeles, I think a week apart. And one of them returns home and one of them stays. This is extremely emotional. It just so happens that one of them is the most important singer in the world,” said the English actor, comedian, TV presenter about his also English girlfriend, Adele.
The final result will be shown on Thursday during “The Last Late Late Show with James Corden Carpool Karaoke Special” along with a pre-announced sketch with Tom Cruise.
Later that night on the final show guests will be Will Ferrell and Harry Styles.
In an interview with Variety, James Corden mentioned what he never had the opportunity to do on “The Late Late Show.” At the top of the list, it is, as he explained on “Carpool Karaoke” with Paul Simon.
“I think he’s one of the best of all time,” James Corden said.
As for the craziest interview, he recalled the moment they realized the drinking on the show’s set was real, and with Ellen Hunt as a guest, he started drinking shots during taping. “I remember thinking, ‘I’ve got to drink some water now!'” she said.
As “The Late Late Show” wraps up this week, everyone involved said they’re looking back on good times. “It changed our lives for eight years,” said executive producer Ben Winston.
“Happiness and that satisfaction will always be tinged with sadness and a group of people who have worked so closely together for eight years are not going to see each other next Monday. We were looking back and 80% of the staff that started our show are still here. I don’t think we’ll ever do anything that big.”
