“Children’s hearts are not bought but donated,” said the director of the Children’s ICU of the University Hospital of Patras Andreas Iliadis wanting to respond to suspicions of “organ trafficking” left in the previous meeting of the MOD by the defense of Roula Pispirigou.

Arriving at the court where he will continue his testimony, Mr. Iliadis, a member of the National Transplantation Organization, in his statement to the journalists emphasized that “I will continue to be the voice of Georgina”, as it was he and his team who took on the ICU Children’s University Hospital Patras the child, after the protest he had suffered in Karamandanio in April 2021.

Mr. Iliadis, who at the previous meeting, on April 6, of the MOD received questions from the defendant’s counsel regarding “organ trade” and “selective export of transplants”, stated shortly before starting his testimony today:

“Children’s hearts are not bought, but given. I have come to testify my pure medical word, the pure medical truth. I want and will continue to be Georgina’s voice. Uncoordinated medical terms that cannot be joined together create misunderstandings. Today, members of the National Transplant Organization and the Hellenic Society of Intensive Care are in the audience.”

In the previous session of the court, Mr. Iliadis had been asked to confirm that he “sends instruments abroad”, a question that had caused indignation and his answer in a strong tone: “Iliadis is not a courier to transport instruments. I am proud to be a transplant coordinator. What the advocate said is an insult and I demand that you retract! I am a member of the National Transplant Organization. You are insulting the people who donated organs!’
