by

The actor and comedian Ivanildo Gomes Nogueira, better known as Batoré, died this Monday (10). He was hospitalized at the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Pirituba, in the north of São Paulo.

The death was confirmed by the City of São Paulo, through the Municipal Health Department (SMS), without giving details about the cause. “The appropriate medical clarifications were passed on to the family”, says the agency in a note.

Despite being under treatment for cancer, Batoré’s team says he was fine and continued to carry out his professional activities normally until last Friday (7). On Instagram, he celebrated on Sunday (9) the fact that he had reached more than 122 thousand followers – at the moment, they already exceed 123 thousand.

Batoré was from Pernambuco from Serra Talhada, but moved with his family to São Paulo as a child. He became known in the 1990s when he was part of the humorous “A Praça É Nossa”, on SBT. More recently, in 2016, he was hired by Globo to play delegate Queiroz in the soap opera “Velho Chico”.

In addition to being an actor and comedian, he was also involved in politics. In 2008, he was elected councilor for the municipality of Mauá (SP). He was re-elected in 2012, but ended up removed from office after the electoral justice ruled that there was party infidelity during his term.
