Diane Keaton defended her collaboration with the controversial director Woody Allen stressing that she is “very proud” of all the films they shot together.

The American actress starred in a number of films with Woody Allen, Play it Again Sam, Sleeper, Love and Death, Annie Hall, Manhattan, Radio Days and Manhattan Murder Mystery.

For her role in the film Annie Hall, Keaton was awarded the Oscar for Best Actress.

Woody Allen has been accused of sexual abuse by his stepdaughter, Dylan Farrow. The director has denied the allegations, but several Hollywood figures have made it known that they will stop working with the director and honor his work.

In an interview with THR, Keaton responded to a question about whether the accusations against Woody Allen have “overshadowed” the project that is the fruit of the collaboration with him. The actress replied: “No, not at all. No. I am proud”.

When asked to pick a film from her career that stands out, Keaton pointed to her first collaboration with Woody Allen, 1972’s Play it Again Sam.

Diane Keaton was also asked if her long recurring collaborations with directors and actors such as Woody Allen, Nancy Meyers and Goldie Hawn evoke a “love at first sight” feeling.

“No, they cause stress,” he replied. “You’re worried. If the director or someone you’re co-starring with is amazing, it’s a concern,” he explained.
