“People always told me I should direct and produce,” the actress said
Emma Watson she admits she “wasn’t very happy” at the height of her career. The actress, who started acting at the age of 10, hasn’t appeared on screen since the 2019 film Little Ladies, directed by Greta Gerwig. Watson spoke of feeling “trapped” in her career in an interview with the Financial Times.
“I wasn’t very happy, to be honest,” she said. “I think I felt a bit trapped. What I found really difficult was that I had to go out and sell something that I really had no control over. Stand up for the film and have any reporter ask, “How does this fit in with your point?” It was very difficult to be the face and spokesperson for things that I had no involvement in the creation process».
Referring to her new role as director she said: ““People always told me I should direct and produce, even when I was in ‘Harry Potter,'” but she didn’t think she could do it. “Only the [αδερφός μου] Alex and my friends would ask me for favors to help them make a video or a photo shoot, and it made me realize that I really know a lot. Being a director seemed impossible. I don’t think I had any confidence in it. I know it seems strange. I mean, I grew up on a movie set».
