Marcelo Faria says he did not read the Bible for his debut on Record: ‘You just need to read the chapters’

Marcelo Faria, 51, signed a contract with Record a month ago. With a work contract, the actor is already preparing for the eighth season (still no premiere date) of “Reis”, where he will play the character Joabe in his 40s. Between a riding lesson and a rehearsal of choreographed sword fights, the actor told the F5 who is excited about returning to teledramaturgy.

Without a fixed role since “Orgulho e Paixão” (Globo, 2018), five years ago, he made a special appearance in “Bom Sucesso” (Globo, 2019-2020), but, the following year, he had his contract closed. “It had been on the market since October 2020 and, as we were in the middle of the pandemic, nothing was happening. I even did a piece with Patrycia Travassos called ‘Duetos’, last year, and then it’s been about two months since I painted Record’s invitation”. The actor said he agreed to participate in the project at the time.

“I found it interesting and I saw that it would be an adventure to work in a production from the biblical period”, highlights Marcelo, who revealed that he had not read the Bible to compose the character, nor did he delve into the soap opera’s religious theme. “I haven’t read it. It’s a drama series and a story like any other to be told. You just need to read the chapters, study and that’s it.”

Marcelo also denied having been hurt by his former home. “No way. I’ve been there for 35 years and I’m very grateful. I’ve done a lot of things and I’m sure I’ll do more”, he says. About the new policy of hiring actors for works, he says he is in favor. “I think it’s great for everyone because you have the possibility to choose the character you want to play or not. You don’t need to be cast anymore, you know?”, he comments.

“Honestly, I think this long contract system will no longer exist. It’s over, right?”, he evaluates. “Particularly because, today, the media is no longer concentrated only on Globo. There are ‘n’ options in the entertainment market.”

The actor said he continues to look for jobs that challenge him. He anticipated involvement in two film projects — one of which is a feature he is producing. There are also production invitations on streaming. “These are things that I still can’t talk about because it’s still walking. But, they will happen”, he anticipates.
