Rita Lee: Remember the beginning of cancer and how the singer dealt with the disease

Reserved and discreet, the singer Rita Lee, who died this Monday (8), at the age of 75, took a while to let her look after her cancer diagnosis be shown. It was only in June 2022, a year after learning about lung cancer, that the first image of the bald rocker was published on social media.

It was her husband, Roberto de Carvalho, 70, with whom the singer has been married since 1996, who was responsible for making the singer’s click.

The artist received the diagnosis after routine tests. At the time, the doctors found that it was a malignant tumor located in the left lung, and the treatment adopted was a combination of radiotherapy and immunotherapy. Less than a year later, in April 2022, the family announced the cancer remission.

Rita Lee was lucky enough to find out early and was treated at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. Immunotherapy is still not found on a large scale in the public service.

Since then, Rita and her family have lived isolated on a farm in the interior of São Paulo surrounded by flowers, trees and her cats and dogs.

Roberto, by the way, regularly published declarations of love and selfies with his wife. One of the most recent photos posted of her was of her nails decorated for the Carnival revelry, five days before her health deteriorated and Rita was hospitalized again.
