Bruninho’s mother disagrees with the lifter’s post in defense of Wallace: ‘He made a serious mistake’

Mother of Brazilian national team setter Bruninho, Vera Mossa decided to comment on her son’s post in defense of Wallace Souza, suspended for five years after a publication in which he suggested shooting President Lula. The former player disagreed with the heir and warned that if the Brazilian team had also served the entire previous sentence, which was 90 days, for the post considered undemocratic, there would be no greater punishment.

“I read it very carefully and carefully, I need to make a correction… I know that your intention is the best possible, you are defending a friend and Volleyball, but here we go”, Vera began explaining herself in a comment. She was keen to point out that Wallace was wrong and even though he apologized later, he deserved the punishment.

“He made a serious mistake, apologized and was punished deservedly… So why didn’t he carry out all the punishment??!! I also don’t know if he was coerced to not comply… There are several issues involved and everyone was warned about the sanctions in the case of non-compliance… None of this would be happening if Wallace had fulfilled the punishment until the end”.

The Ethics Committee of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) suspended Wallace for 90 days for clubs and one year for the national team. He did not comply, he entered the court and now he is suspended for five years in both scenarios.

Vera still made a point of sending a loving message to her son and acknowledged that the opinions of the two on the case are different. Bruninho published a long text on social networks recalling the moments he spent with the player for more than ten years and highlighted how Wallace is away from the court. “He is a humble man, a wonderful father and husband and the result of an extremely hardworking family with huge hearts. I know him and his entire family and I have great affection and admiration for all of them”.

Bruninho also asked for empathy and balance in judgment about Wallace in the post: “We will never have the ideal world, I just think that we should live with more empathy and balance in judgment to the person who throughout his life and career was upright and correct, representing Brazil in the best possible way. Yes, he made a mistake, he paid and continues to pay for it, but for those who know him, know that he learned from it”, concluded the son of Flamengo coach Bernardinho.
