Former Made In Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh has opened up about how her friendship with Meghan Markle fell apart after she started dating Prince Harry.

The reality star made the revelations on the Mumlemmas podcast, describing how she became close with Meghan after they met at a business event in Turkey.

Millie claimed she bonded with Meghan because they had similar marital problems, with Millie having split from her first husband, Professor Green, while Meghan was at the time divorcing her partner Trevor Engelson.

The 33-year-old explained that, “Years ago, I would say about eight years ago, I went to a hotel opening in Istanbul and I met Meghan, I was a fan, I was watching Suits and we met at the bar. We both ordered a drink at the same time and started chatting. We got on really well, we found each other in everything and just kept in touch.”

He later added, “A while later we went for lunch, she didn’t know London very well, she’d never been to Chelsey, so I took her to The Ivy on Kings Road. She didn’t know anyone, so I taught her the best places to get her nails done, basically my little black book of contacts.”

Millie delved into their friendship, detailing how they proved to be there for each other during their failed marriages.

“When we first met I was married, I was going through a rough time, and I got a divorce, and she got divorced, so we had a lot to talk about,” Millie said. “That was pretty exciting, and we were both crazy about our wellness, she had her blog, we were both into the same things. We hung out a lot, we weren’t the best of friends but whenever he was in town he would let me know and we just hung out. The last time I saw her she was in a hotel in the Cotswolds, she was staying there, what I thought was going to be a day of yoga ended up being a day of margaritas by the pool,” he added.

The last time the two friends got together, Meghan revealed she was chatting with Prince Harry, and Millie told her she had nothing to do with the royal family. More specifically, he stated that, “When I was there, we were talking and he told me about Harry and that they were texting and a friend had introduced them. I don’t know him, to clarify, I’ve never met him. Me and Harry don’t know each other, I’ve never met him. I really didn’t ask too much about it.”

After Meghan’s relationship with Prince Harry became public knowledge, the reality star reached out to Meghan through social media, where she was already becoming famous.

Millie gushed, “I texted her and said, “I hope you’re well, I’m thinking of you,” and she sent me this very abrupt message, which was unlike any of our previous communications. It’s not like I texted her asking if the rumors about her new relationship were true, that’s none of my business. What I got from this message was that he needed some space. I didn’t text her back, but I expected we would stay in touch. I thought he’d text and say, ”Sorry, I’m just a little stressed at the moment.” But we never spoke again. I felt like he basically told me we’re off in that message. So that’s how I broke up. And we haven’t spoken since.”

Millie admitted she was surprised by the abrupt message, knowing deep down the reason their friendship fell apart.

What she revealed was, “My view is, that’s my instinct because it happened at the time, she thought right I’m going to be a royal now, I don’t need Millie in my life. I was on a reality show at the time, Meghan must have thought she can’t date someone from Made In Chelsea, she’s going to be a princess at some point.” concluded.
