The Public Prosecutor’s Office of São Paulo manifested itself, on Friday (12), on the criminal complaint that Patrícia Poeta filed against the presenter and columnist Alessandro Lo-Bianco, of the program A Tarde É Sua, on RedeTV!.
The criminal complaint is the initial petition to give rise to the criminal action before the Justice. The journalist alleges that she was the victim of slander, injury and defamation for comments made by the presenter. In order to reach an agreement between the parties, the body determined that a reconciliation hearing be scheduled.
André Perecmanis, lawyer for the Globo presenter, says that, for an agreement, she requires a formal apology and public retraction from Alessandro. If they do not agree with the decision, criminal proceedings must be instituted against the columnist.
In April, the lawyer told the F5 having gathered Alessandro’s speeches and statements directed at the journalist. “She uses adjectives like ‘repressed’, ‘rude’, ‘cynical’, ‘difficult’ and ‘ill-mannered’ against my client. You can’t create a fog over a person’s reputation and think it will go unpunished. It is also important that all this comes out to the public,” he said.
According to the Brazilian Penal Code, anyone convicted of defamation can face a penalty of detention of three months to one year and a fine.
