Comedian Léo Lins cannot leave the city of São Paulo (SP) without court authorization. This is another determination of the Court of Justice of São Paulo after the decision that the comedy special “Disturbador” was removed from its YouTube channel, this Tuesday (16). In addition, he will have to present himself to the authorities to clarify his activities once a month.
“I already tell you what I do: I write jokes, go to the gym, watch movies and series and take care of my cats. I need to go there and report these acts that border on terrorism”, said Léo Lins, who considers the decision of Justice to be censored. “The show did not violate any YouTube norms, it was even monetized. The Public Ministry, which made the request, ignored the platform and considered the show as a criminal act”, he adds.
After the determination, he adds that he will wait for the judgment and that he hopes “not to be arrested”. “But, in case it is, with the overcrowding of the jails, my show will continue to be sold out. By the way, that was a joke”, said Léo. “I used a hypothetical case and a figure of speech for this. I’m explaining it, so they don’t think it was a hate crime. And since I made the joke on myself and I’m a straight white man, I think it’s okay, because it’s one of the only topics allowed according to the process.”
questioned by F5 about the future of the process, the comedian’s advisory said he will wait for the trial. The artist’s lawyer points out that this is a precautionary measure. “There is still no criminal case. The defense sees the measures as censorship and is already preparing the appropriate measures with the Court of Justice of the state of São Paulo”, informed Lins’ representative.
