Maria Clara Spinelli will be the first trans protagonist of telenovelas

The last soap opera by Maria Clara Spinelli, 47, was “A Força do Querer” (2017), on Globo. Six years later, she returns to the station to be one of the protagonists of the next 6 pm soap opera, “Elas Por Elas”. In the remake of the plot written by Cassiano Gabus Mendes and aired 41 years ago, the actress will be Renê who, after a 25-year stint, becomes Renée.

In the original version, Renée did not exist and it has not yet been disclosed whether in the plot centered on the story of seven high school friends (Márcia, Natália, Wanda, Helena, Adriana, Carmem and Marlene), who are reunited after so many years apart, one of them will give way to a trans character. But, some changes are already foreseen in relation to the original version, starting with the exteriors showing Rio de Janeiro as the production site and no longer São Paulo.

Spinelli is Globo’s first trans protagonist and the information was announced by columnist Patrícia Kogut. O F5 contacted the actress and the broadcaster itself, but received no response. In addition to playing Mira, a false secretary who was an accomplice in the crimes of Irene (Débora Falabella) in Glória Perez’s plot, she acted in “Salve Jorge” (2013) and in the series Supermax (2016), and “Carcereiros” (2017) .
