“Every time I meet Malaysians, I feel a sense of love and warmth. Everyone is welcome at our concert,” the singer said
Their leader Coldplay, Chris Martin, responded to calls for the band to cancel their upcoming concert in Malaysia. Recently, Nasruddin Hassan, leader of the Islamic Party of Malaysia (PAS) called for the cancellation of their concert at the Kuala Lumpur National Stadium, Bukit Jalil on 22 November.
“What does the government want to foster a culture of hedonism and perversion in this country? I just advise you to cancel this British band’s concert in Malaysia. It does not bring anything good to religion, tribe and country” he said.
After Nasruddin Hassan’s request to cancel the concert, which will be the band’s first in the country, several Malaysian ministers launched an attack on him.
Chris Martin weighed in on the controversy in an interview with Malaysia’s national radio station HITZ.
“Whenever I meet Malaysians, I feel a sense of love and warmth. Everyone is welcome at our concert. We love all people, all religions” said the singer.
“All leaders, all supporters – no one is excluded. We really want you to come to our concert and feel free to be yourself and let everyone be themselves. Anyone who isn’t happy we’re coming, we’re sorry, but we love you toohe said.
