Sophie Marceau spoke about her personal life in an interview with “Libération” and caused a sensation. The French star declared herself “sapiosexual,” using a relatively new term in the field of human sexuality.

The sapiosexuals -noosexuals or euphyiolagnoi are two possible renderings of the term in Greek- are a category of people, who consider intelligence and the human mind in general as the most erotic characteristic in the opposite sex. The term comes from the Latin word sapiens, which means wise, reasonable, prudent, and the word sexual, meaning sexual.

Those who self-identify as sapiosexual will say that they are sexually aroused by another person’s mind and insight. As a “preliminary”, an intellectual seeks the discussions that touch, indicatively, the field of Philosophy or Psychology.

The French actress assured that “everything is good” in her heart, without saying anything more about her love life. Sophie Marceau was in relationships with Polish director Andrzej Zulawski, with whom she had a son Vincent, born in July 1995, and with American producer Jim Lemley, with whom she had a daughter Juliette, who was born in 2002 .

“Since I was 13 years old, in all the articles about me there is a reference to my body,” she had said in an earlier interview. “She’s thin, she’s not afraid of old age, she’s bright for her age… It’s always the same question: is she likable anymore or not?” It means that we are there to please, that our body is our passport and that if we don’t meet the criteria imposed on us, it can be very uncomfortable,” he pointed out.
