Further pushing the boundaries of projection technology, Technical Direction Company (TDC) is bringing the Australian city to life at this year’s Vivid Sydney festival with a series of captivating light installations.
More specifically, he transformed the static facades of more than 20 city landmarks into dynamic works of art. In the installation ‘Lighting of the Sails: Life Enlivened’, laser projectors illuminate the iconic Sydney Opera House with the collaborative work of Drs. John Olsen and Curious.
The theme of this year’s 13th annual festival is ‘Naturally’, a hymn to the beauty and diversity of our natural world: light installations by acclaimed artists, music concerts, discussions.
For the occasion, TDC used 150 state-of-the-art laser projectors, a new record number. Each night, they provide a total of one billion pixels, double what was achieved at the 2022 festival. In addition, the company achieved a 25% increase in the area covered by the projectors, while consuming 150 kilowatt hours per building, less than last year, reducing by thus carbon emissions.
