Ana Maria Braga exposes pain and suffering when she had anal cancer: ‘I couldn’t walk’

The presence of Preta Gil from the Mais Você program, this Tuesday (6), moved Ana Maria Braga. The presenter was moved by the account of Gilberto Gil’s daughter about her fight against bowel cancer and decided to expose the pain and suffering she had with the disease, discovered in the anus in 2011.

Ana Maria recalled having had several radiotherapy sessions and that, more than ten years ago, the procedure was much more arduous. “I had the same treatment she is doing now. She is going to have her last radiotherapy session today. At the time I had it, it left me in a state of taking morphine every day because I couldn’t walk”, began the presenter.

“All the parts that you have liquid, cook. I had it in the anus. So the doctor told me: you will come here every day and sit on a barbecue plate and you will burn”, completed Ana Maria Braga. Next, Preta took the opportunity to talk about advances in medicine and fears that people have with procedures such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy in cancer treatments.

“It’s important to talk about this because when we receive a diagnosis, we come with a flood of fear. Today, medicine has evolved a lot. I did have symptoms, I was bedridden, but thank God I didn’t have wounds, burns…”, he commented Black Gil.

Ana Maria Braga had skin cancer in 1991 and ten years later, she revealed cancer in her anus. After the treatment, she, who had been on Globo for two years, returned to the program without her hair and moved the public for her fight against the disease. In 2015, the presenter discovered a tumor in her lung and it was cured after a year of chemotherapy. In 2020, Ana found out about a new lung cancer and was cured in a few months.
