There is a small, verdant island, with unique wild animal inhabitants. The reason for Bela Vrakas, where its famous beach connects Sivota with the islet of Megalo Mourtemeno, which is also the third largest island of Sivota.

Its name comes from the end of the Greco-Italian war, when in 1940 a group of Italians, trying to save themselves, fled among the dense trees of the island and found their salvation. This fact combined with the extraordinary beauty of the landscape made the Italians emotionally connect with it and give it the name Bella Vraka.

This islet can be visited on foot. When it is high tide, a part of the beach disappears below the surface of the sea, while the island is cut off from the land so close. But when the sea is calm, a thin isthmus about one meter wide creates a twin beach that can hardly be forgotten, while the island can be accessed without even getting wet.

“The Island of Dreams”

But there is one more island that can be visited on foot. It is about “the island of dreams” which is only two hours away from Athens and for most it is an unknown destination. However, its clear blue waters and wide sandy beaches leave no one unmoved.

The abandoned, today, island is joined by a small strip of land to Evia. For this reason it is also called Pezonisi. The island looks like an extension of the port and its beaches are blue and spotless. 3 decades ago a large hotel and several restaurants operated in Pezonisi, but for many years the facilities have been abandoned for bureaucratic reasons. Nevertheless, anyone who wants to can get there, walk and enjoy swimming in crystal clear, pristine waters.
