Jodie Comer added another Tony Award to her collection. At the 76th annual awards held at the United Palace in New York, the actress won the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for the play Prima Facie, among Oscar winners Jessica Chastain, Jessica Hecht (Summer, 1976) and Audra McDonald (Ohio State Murders).

In the 100-minute monologue, Comer plays attorney Tessa Ensler who defends clients accused of sexual assault until she herself is a rape victim.

Speaking about her role, she said Ensler had been her “greatest teacher” and thanked Suzie Miller for writing the “wonderful piece” the producers and her team. “Every single person who felt represented by Tessa, that was my greatest honor,” said an emotional Comer. “And it continues to be! There are three weeks left!’

It is noted that the protagonist of the series “Killing Eve” won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in London for the same project.

According to indiewire, the curtain on “Prima Facie” directed by Justin Martin will fall on July 2.
