  • The show “The Stork Brings the Babies” at the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation

The 16th Intermunicipal Amateur Theater Festival of Attica Municipalities opens its curtain for 2023 with the performance “The stork brings the babies” from the theater group of the Municipality of Nicea-St. I. Rentis “Rendia Lexis”, a play by Michalis Reppas and Thanasis Papathanasiou, directed by Evi Sideris, music by Vaios Prapas and sets/costumes by Iliana Skoulakis, at the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation. Story: December 1943. Thessaloniki is under German occupation. The Jewish population has disappeared and those left behind are struggling to survive with whatever they can find. Together with them, Christina and Mimi are trying to survive, married for 12 years with a burning desire to have a child. On the upper floor, Vangelis lives with Lela: Lela is Christina’s childhood friend and Vangelis is her husband, who cooperates with the Germans for their survival. Neither couple has succeeded in producing offspring. On the contrary, the neighbor Victoria has seven children that she is trying to support. And when Jacob, the Jewish fugitive from Auschwitz, secretly returns to the neighborhood one night, ups and downs come. Fear is pitted against love, desires against survival and comedy against drama, until Thessaloniki is liberated and the storks that bring hope for tomorrow land … wrapped up. Because sometimes… the stork brings the babies.
