With a musical tribute to the memory of the late president Dimitrios Pandermalis, this year celebrates the 14 years of operation of the Acropolis Museumwhich are completed on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. It’s about her Youth Orchestra of Dion – the place where Dimitris Pandermalis was scientifically and emotionally connected – the multi-member orchestra of young children, mainly schoolchildren and students, who have as a common feature their impeccable artistic skill, passion and endless talent.

The musical tribute to Greek poetry set to music will take place in the forecourt of the Acropolis Museum at 9 p.m. The orchestra is conducted by conductor Nikos Patris. Take part The Vasilis LekkasThe Gerasimos Andreatosthe Zoe Papadopoulou and Babis Velissarios. The evening is presented by Alexis Costalas. Admission to the concert is free.

“On June 20, 2023, the Acropolis Museum completes 14 years of operation and it is the first year this year that on his birthday the late Professor Dimitrios Pantermalis, who served as President of the Board of Directors of the Organization for the Construction of a New Acropolis Museum from 2000 to 2019 and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Acropolis Museum from 2009 to 2022“, notes the Acropolis Museum in its moving announcement. And it continues: “Beyond his life’s work, which was the Acropolis Museum, Dimitrios Pantermalis was the man who highlighted the archaeological site of Dion. His love for Dion and his connection with its inhabitants was deep. He supported in various ways the cultural activities of the place and the work of the Olympus Festival Organization and the Center of Letters and Arts of Dion».

On this day, the Museum’s exhibition spaces will be open from 9 am to 12 midnight, with a regular ticket. During the same hours, the restaurant on the second floor with a view of the illuminated Acropolis will also be open.
