“Transgressions”, the series of dramatized analogies of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), is performed for the first time in the Stavros Niarchos Park. For five performances (June 28, 29 and 30 and July 3 and 4) at 8.30 p.m., William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is presented in a theatrical reading specially adapted for the SNFCC Dome.
Hector Lygizos, completing this year’s extremely successful series of theatrical analogies of the SNFCC, which bore the general title “Love Matches”, directs an ensemble of young actors who, with simple theatrical means, tell us the complex story of the most summer theatrical dream.
The leading Shakespearean comedy is a work of great poetic breath which, while never losing its lightness and festive tone, simultaneously functions as a multi-dimensional study of love, dream and fantasy. Outrageous farcical situations, theater within the theater, songs, incantations, insane confessions, arguments and verbal sparring are masterfully alternated composing a dream universe, where the natural order of things is turned upside down to the delight of – in the end – everyone.
The translation is by Dionysis Kapsalis. The adaptation is signed by Hectoras Lygizos, the costumes and constructions are handled by Greece Damianou and the lighting by Dimitris Kasimatis. Actors: Manos Vavadakis, Eva Vlassopoulou, George Ziakas, Konstantinos Zografos, George Iliopoulos, Vicky Kyriakoulakou, Hector Lygizos, Flomaria Papadakis, Katerina Patsiani, Nancy Sideris, Jason Stasinos and Thanos Tokakis.
In the show on 06/30, there will be simultaneous interpretation in Greek Sign Language. A discussion with the contributors will follow.
