His decision Chris Hemsworth his retirement from acting was motivated by his desire to spend more time with his children, not a genetic test that showed he has a high chance of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
“Everything had its share,” the actor told Entertainment Tonight. “I wanted to take a break because I have been working for 10 years and I have three children that I want to spend more time with“, he added.

Hemsworth previously told Vanity Fair that he wanted to retire from making movies after seeing the results of a genetic test he took for the Disney+ series “Limitless.” While filming an episode about death, he learned that his risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease was eight to ten times higher than most because he inherited the apolipoprotein E gene from his mother and father.

“While doing the series, each episode resonated so much that it made me realize that life just flies by and I wish I didn’t work for long periods of time and more often” said the actor.

He added: “The predisposition information… allowed me to make all the changes… whether it’s my diet, my training, my mental health, which is what the series is all about. The whole point for me was to let people know that they can have access to tools, knowledge and information on how to live a better, longer and healthier life.”.
