First lady Janja Lula da Silva used social networks this Saturday (17) to invite the band Coldplay to participate in the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which will take place in Belém, Pará.
“Hi Chris!” This is how the first lady begins the video released on her profiles. “Look, do you remember that we were together with President Lula there in Rio de Janeiro and you said that, if COP30 was confirmed in Brazil, you would be with us. You and Coldplay.”
“So, look where I am, in Belém do Pará. COP30 was confirmed here in November 2025. We will be waiting for you here. Brazil is very happy to host this event, it will be beautiful, you will get to know the Amazon and the population that lives in the Amazon close by. We will be waiting for you. A big kiss”, says Janja.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) met singer Chris Martin, leader of Coldplay, in March this year, when the band performed more than ten times on Brazilian soil. The NGO Global Citizen also participated in the meeting, in which, according to Lula, Coldplay was invited and the environment and the protection of the Amazon were discussed.
The president was in Belém this Saturday to sign the service order for the construction of Porto Futuro 2, one of the works announced by the federal government for the event in 2025. During his visit to the city, he defended the preservation of the Amazon and spoke about the preparations for the COP30.
